True North Therapy & Wellness
Finding Your Way Through Stress, Loss, Trauma, and Change
There are times when responsibilities feel endless, grief feels heavy, or distance in a relationship becomes difficult to ignore. True North Therapy & Wellness provides relationship and mental health counseling for adults, couples, Service Members, Veterans, first responders, and families seeking support through life’s challenges.
For the Challenges People Do Not Always See
Support for the stress, grief, pressure, and emotional burdens that often stay hidden behind daily responsibilities.
Respect for Your Story
A confidential environment where difficult conversations can happen without judgment, pressure, or expectations.
Evidence-Based Care
Care should feel supportive, but it should also be grounded in trusted therapeutic methods.
We provide counseling and therapy services rooted in evidence-based approaches, clinical training, and each client’s personal goals.
Focused on Meaningful Change
Helping individuals and couples better understand themselves, their relationships, and the challenges affecting their well-being.
Care That Meets the Person Behind the Pressure
High responsibility roles can leave little room to slow down. Many professionals, healthcare workers, first responders, Veterans, and military families carry stress that is not always visible from the outside. Therapy offers a private space to talk through what feels heavy, understand patterns, and explore healthier ways to respond to daily pressure.
Space to Be Honest
A supportive place to talk about stress, grief, burnout, trauma exposure, relationship strain, or life changes without needing to explain everything perfectly.
Support That Fits Your Life
Get counseling and therapy services through secure telehealth sessions, which can make care more accessible for busy adults, couples, and professionals like Service Members and first responders.
An Evidence-Based Approach
Care may include reflection, coping skills, stress management tools, communication support, and trauma-informed therapy based on each person’s needs and goals.
Comprehensive Mental Health Care
You Have Taken Care of Everyone Else. It Is Okay to Focus on Yourself, Too.
Many people learn to push their own pain to the side because someone else needs them. A partner needs patience. A family needs stability. A team needs direction. A patient needs care. A call comes in, and a first responder has to move toward the crisis instead of away from it.
Over time, that kind of strength can become heavy. You may keep functioning, keep showing up, and keep saying “I’m fine” or “I’ll deal with it later”, even when grief, stress, trauma exposure, relationship distance, or burnout are affecting your life in quiet ways.
At True North Therapy & Wellness, compassionate counseling services give you space to stop carrying everything alone and begin talking through what has been pushed aside.

How it All Began
Meet the Heart Behind True North Therapy & Wellness
Maggie Oyola is a Registered Clinical Mental Health Intern and Doctor of Psychology Candidate based in Tampa, Florida. She is also a former Army medic, a former civilian first responder, and the spouse of a retired Green Beret.
Over the years, Maggie has seen how stress, trauma, grief, and burnout can quietly affect a person’s emotional health, relationships, work, and daily life. Sometimes it shows up as exhaustion. Sometimes it creates distance from the people you love. Sometimes it feels like you are doing everything you can just to get through the day.
That understanding is part of what led her to create True North Therapy & Wellness. The practice offers a safe and supportive space where clients can talk openly about what they are carrying. Maggie offers in-person sessions by appointment and virtual therapy throughout Florida, giving clients more than one way to seek support.
Her approach is culturally responsive, inclusive, and respectful of each person’s story. The goal is to create a space where people from all walks of life can feel seen, heard, and understood as they begin moving from “just surviving” toward living with more clarity and connection.

Functioning ≠ Not Struggling
When Functioning Well Becomes a Way of Hiding Struggle
Many people assume that if they are still working, caring for their families, meeting deadlines, and handling responsibilities, they must be doing fine.
But functioning and feeling well are not always the same thing.
You may be succeeding at work while feeling exhausted every day. You may be showing up for your family while feeling emotionally disconnected. You may be managing responsibilities, leading teams, caring for others, or maintaining relationships while quietly carrying stress, grief, resentment, anxiety, or experiences that have never been fully processed.
Over time, people often adapt to these feelings so gradually that they stop noticing how much energy it takes just to get through the day.
Counseling and therapy services create space to examine what has been pushed aside, understand what may be contributing to that burden, and begin paying attention to your own needs with the same care you give to everyone else.

For many individuals and couples, yes. Research consistently shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related symptoms, and relationship challenges.
Virtual therapy also offers added flexibility, privacy, and accessibility, especially for busy professionals, military families, first responders, and clients balancing demanding schedules.
Ultimately, one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship and how safe, supported, and understood a client feels throughout the process.
